Looksmaxxing (LUUKS-MAK-sing) is an online self-improvement practice, out of the manosphere, aimed at maximizing physical attractiveness.[1] The word is a 2010s incel-board neologism (looks + -maxxing). It lived on obscure PSL forums, then broke into civilian English in the 2020s via TikTok and, in 2025–2026, via livestreamer Clavicular.[1]
Methods range from skincare and gym (softmaxxing) to surgery, anabolic steroids, HGH, peptides, extreme dieting, and — in the extremist layer — bonesmashing and unprescribed stimulants (hardmaxxing). This encyclopedia treats it as a skill stack with time scales, not as a caste. Forum religion ("it's over," "subhuman") is slang. It does not set the lead.
Origin
The three boards Wikipedia (and this wiki) treat as the source dialect are PUAHate, SlutHate, and Lookism.net — the PSL forums. Lookism is the claim; Lookism.net is the dead site. Looksmax.org (ex-looksmax.me) is the living English forum. Blackpill rode along: dating outcomes as almost entirely looks. Those are different projects. This wiki is the practice. PSL scale
The PSL scale is an 8-point facial ranking (not "x out of ten") with tiers: subhuman, normie (low/mid/high), Chad (Chadlite / Chad / giga). Wikipedia notes Clavicular's public use of that cartoon. The New Yorker (Rothfeld) called a system that labels people "subhuman" beneath contempt. This wiki may mention a PSL number as how the community talks. It does not rank living people on the Main Page.
Stack (house)

- Month–year: body fat, physique, derm, dentist, minoxidil/finasteride with a clinician.

Mainstream
By the mid-2020s the word was a TikTok genre and then a newspaper genre. Clavicular is why civilians heard mog and "maxxing" as a suffix. Official Chad Rankings (2026) is kayfabe on top of that. Apps (Umax) sold a weekly face number. This wiki is the opposite product: pages, not a score you rent.
