9D facelift is a trade name, not a CPT code. In 2026 it points at least two different operations. This page records both so a screenshot of “9D” is not assumed to be one hospital procedure.
Use 1: barbed-thread marketing
Thread vendors number the rows of barbs around a filament: 4D, 6D, 8D, 9D. A patent family for “six-dimensional” and “eight-dimensional” barbed PDO/PCL sutures treats the integer as how many longitudinal rows of barbs cut or molded on the suture — more purchase points, not nine anatomical planes.[1] Clinics in Singapore and elsewhere sell a “9D Face Lift” as a non-surgical cog thread package: long barbed sutures for midface and jaw, explicitly not short mono threads and not “liquid PDO.”[2] Some clinic copy (“9D Butterfly Wing Lift” and similar) claims nine depths from epidermis to SMAS. That numbering is marketing, not a dissection atlas.
A package labeled 9D still has a polymer, a barb geometry, a plane, a suture count, and a vector — or, in the surgical use below, a named lift. The integer is not the result.
Use 2: branded surgical system
Separately, Shanghai surgeon Xiao Zhongye markets a “9D Facelift / 9D Structural Lift” as a layered surgical plan (SMAS, retaining ligaments, nasolabial and oral commissure release) and states it is not a thread lift and not a skin-only pull.[3] That is closer to a personal deep plane facelift / ligament-based protocol with a trademark than to PDO.
