Field Medicine

A SMAS facelift works the superficial musculoaponeurotic system — plication, imbrication, or SMAS-ectomy — then redrapes skin.[1] It is the parent of most “real” lifts. Deep plane facelift is the more aggressive ligament-release child. If a clinic says SMAS and shows a thread, they are lying.

Versus skin-only

Skin-only skips the plane. See SMAS and deep plane facelift.
