Deep plane facelift

A deep plane facelift enters beneath the SMAS, releases retaining ligaments, and moves skin and SMAS as a composite so the face is less likely to look skin-pulled.[1] It is hospital surgery. Improvement in nasolabial folds and jowls is a typical reason it is chosen. Facial-nerve risk is why it is not a holiday-package procedure.
It is not a thread lift. A marketed 9D facelift may or may not mean this; see that page.

This is the surgical tool this encyclopedia treats as matching real descent when threads and filler are the wrong class. Not a first step for a young recessed jaw.
