A thread lift places sutures under the skin to hitch tissue and, with absorbable polymers, to provoke collagen along the track.[1] Korea industrialized modern PDO thread work; clinics in Turkey and Southeast Asia often market it as a “non-surgical facelift.” Duration is usually months to about two years, not a decade. It is not equivalent to a deep plane facelift (skin excision and ligament release).
Aptos / Sulamanidze started non-absorbable barbed polypropylene in the late 1990s. The current default is absorbable: PDO, PLLA, PCL, and blends. Shape is a separate axis from polymer.

Free-floating vs anchored, needle vs cannula, vertical vs oblique vectors — those choices matter more than the brand on the pouch. Short barbed PDO placed vertically in the malar/submalar area is a published Korean pattern for Asian skeletal descent; temple-directed oblique cogs are the other common drawing.

This wiki's view
Cogs and cones are a hitch for mild–moderate descent (nasolabial fold, early jowl) when someone is not a facelift candidate or not ready for one. Monos and screws are collagen/texture, not a lift. Real laxity with extra skin is still a facelift / neck lift problem. Threads are not a custom jawline implant.
