The gonial angle is the angle at the gonion, where the vertical ramus of the mandible meets the horizontal body.[1] On profile it is the corner of the jaw. Looksmaxxing wants it more acute / square in men (often recited as ~110–120°) and treats a steep, obtuse angle as a rounder, softer lower third. Published male averages sit higher than forum “Chad” cutoffs; the boards are not a cephalometric lab.
What you see: masseter, body fat, beard. What bone does: the angle itself. Implants and chin wing osteotomy change contour; they do not magically rewrite a 140° corner into a cartoon.
