The mandibular plane is the line along the lower border of the mandible. Its angle to true horizontal (or to cranial-base planes in cephalometrics) is the mandibular plane angle. Looksmaxxing wants it flatter (low angle, square jaw). A steep plane is the hyperdivergent / long-face pattern. Chin wing osteotomy was published specifically to recontour this border without moving the bite.
