Technique (description)
CT → CAD design (projection, width, vertical length, sometimes a chin cleft) → intraoral + often a small submental incision → subperiosteal pocket → implant. Recovery is weeks of swelling. How much you see depends on fat and skin, not only millimeters on the CAD.
Pitfalls
- Stock chin + stock angles with a gap in the body — the "discontinuous jaw" fail.
- Too much width for the soft-tissue envelope — wound, exposure, unnatural flare.
- Infection; malposition; need for revision.
- Combining with bimaxillary osteotomy or old implants: removal can sag the neck (forum patient logs; treat as anecdote plus a real mechanical problem).
