Cheekbones are the aesthetic reading of the zygomatic bone: highlight, width, how much the malar sticks out of facial fat.[1] Low fat shows them; implants exist; chewing will not grow a zygoma. Makeup and lighting fake them in photos.
Western looksmaxxing usually wants them forward. Some East Asian contouring reduces them. Same bone, opposite wish. The S-curve off the eminence is the ogee curve.
