Orthognathic surgery is the set of operations that cut and move the tooth-bearing jaws — maxilla, mandible, or both — to change bite and facial projection.[1] Looksmaxxing calls the two-jaw version bimax or “double jaw.” A sliding genioplasty moves chin bone and is often bundled; it is not the same cut as a BSSO (bilateral sagittal split osteotomy) of the ramus.

Usual cuts
- Le Fort I — maxilla; midface projection and occlusal plane.
- BSSO — mandible ramus split; slide the tooth-bearing jaw.
- Bimaxillary osteotomy — both, one anaesthetic.
- Sliding genioplasty / chin wing osteotomy — chin or mandibular border, bite often unchanged.
