It lived on obscure PSL forums, then broke into civilian English in the 2020s via TikTok and, in 2025–2026, via livestreamer Clavicular.
Methods range from skincare and gym (softmaxxing) to surgery, anabolic steroids, HGH, peptides, extreme dieting, and — in the extremist layer — bonesmashing and unprescribed stimulants (hardmaxxing). This encyclopedia treats it as a skill stack with time scales, not as a caste. Forum religion ("it's over," "subhuman") is slang. It does not set the lead.
