A jowl is descended lower-face fat and skin hanging over the mandibular border, breaking the jawline.[1] Jawline filler along the border can camouflage a small jowl in still photos. Cog threads can hitch a mild one. Facelift and neck lift relocate tissue and extra skin. Low body fat and posture change how much jowl you see before any of those.
This wiki's view
Camouflage (border filler) for a hint of jowl; hitch (cogs) for mild descent; surgery when there is real laxity. Cutting body fat first is the cheap test of whether the jowl was fat.
